The story teller,
with no need for Thesaurus,
spewing trite jargon,
Shakespeare had it right:
he tickled peasants, not peers
nor cognoscenti.
He kept it simple.
Grand tales of weakness and pride
painted sins and crimes.
They reveled in it.
Folks who never learnt to read,
delighted in him.
Who can harmonize
so well the sex and murder,
irony and wit?
No muse has inspired
today’s sesquipedalian.
to don that mantle.
